The remote is nothing to write home about. It is very small and you do have to aim it just right. Also I don't like the Vizio LED indicators on the front of the unit, hard to read.
Those are the CONS. However there are still enough PROS to warrant a Five Star rating.
It sounds great and it worked without issue right out of the box. Paring of the the subwoofer happened more or less automatically.
I'm using it with a Panasonic 42 Plasma and the improvement in sound fidelity is significant. The wireless subwoofer is very cool and although it does not go down very far (compared to my SVS sub that impacts my breathing when Sauron drops the ring)it is pretty impressive in the freq range it does support and it adds a lot to the experience, especially when watching action oriented movies.
As far surround goes I cannot say i really noticed any real "simulated" surround effect but for the money I did not expect it either.
The system goes as loud as I would ever want in our living room and on the whole I'm very satisfied and would consider other Vizio products based on the performance of this unit.
Definitely value for money. |
don't buy it

1. The sound is not discernibly better than the built-in speakers in my Samsung 50" DLP. The only real difference is that music plays twice as loud as speech, so you have to keep continually adjusting the volume.
2. The cheesy little remote has a true range (despite what the specs say) of about 8-10 feet. If you sit farther than that from your set, you'll get a lot of exercise.
3. The optical input port broke after a couple of months so it will no longer hold the cable.
I'm getting rid of this thing. In my other house I have a Sony system, which works MUCH better. |
Not worth it.

| This unit did not work out of the box. I was on the phone with two different customer service techs and they did not know what they were doing. One wanted to replace my TV and the other one wanted me to go and buy a new cable. Then they were going to have home repair come out. Then they were going to have it shipped back and send me a new one. I was so confused that I just put it back in the box and returned it to the store for a refund. Customer service was so bad that I bought a Samsung sound bar and it is a much better unit and it worked out of the box. The Samsung has a lot more features and has a much better remote.GOODBYE VIZIO. |
Well worth it!

| Very happy with this. Not true surround as other reviews say but it's to be expected, however the sound quality is WAY better than the tinny sounds from my 32" Vizio HDTV. As an aside, I think manufacturers make their stock TV speakers sound this way so people will have to buy products such as this but I'm very happy with the setup. I bought a refurbished one and it's just as good as a new one, a minor scratch is all that it had. DEFINATELY buy the sound bar with the wireless subwoofer, you will be glad you did! |
Died, then it died

| First, the sub-woofer wouldn't work. Never worked. The directions to set it up (yes, I read them) were very simple. It just didn't work. Never heard a peep from the sub-woofer. So I just used the bar for a while. OK sound - obviously a little tinny, but not bad. Better than the TV sound. The tiny, easy-to-lose remote is a nuisance and is cheap - doesn't work well; has to be aimed very precisely, and the buttons are balky. But one day, within a few months of buying the system, I was adjusting the sound, and...blip! Nothing. It just died. Not a sound from it since. Trash. |
