Product Description

HDTV is easy. Home-Theater sound systems used to be hard but Panasonic has made it easier than pie (ready-made pie). Blu-ray extends beyond HDTV in sound. HDTV has 5.1 channel ability but Blu-Ray offers 7.1 channels. The SC-BT300 boasts seven speakers to envelop viewers in a remarkably true-to-life surround sound experience. The front and center channel speakers are made with a bamboo diaphragm which provides a tightly intertwined fiber to deliver greater rigidity and accuracy, resulting in clear reproduction of sounds over a wide frequency range, from massive explosions to metallic clangs. The subwoofer features a Kelton system with a dual diameter structure to deliver a deep powerful bass. The Smart Set-up guide uses the help of GUI navigation to allow users to set up their SC-BT300 home-theater system for optimum performance. The result is being able to stay at home while enjoying a thrilling, incredibly lifelike audio performance that rivals a movie theater. The appeal of Panasonic Blu-ray products goes beyond the breathtaking pictures and sound; the networking functions open the door to new kinds of entertainment fun. The SC-BT300 can connect to the Internet for downloading bonus content available with Blu-ray Discs and for playing Internet games via BD-Live. This connectivity is further enhanced with the addition of VIERA-Cast. VIERA-Cast integrates the Amazon Video-on-Demand (VOD) online movie rental service. The Amazon VOD service joins other content options already available on VIERA-Cast, including videos from You Tube, access to online photos via Picasa Web Albums, financial information from Bloomberg News, as well as local weather updates. The possibilities are virtually endless. It comes with a Universal Dock for iPod, making it easy for iPod users to play their favorite music or video downloads. This system is also Green-friendly. It has a power-save mode to protect the green in your

I purchased the Panasonic SC-BT300 Blu-ray Disc Home Theater Sound System. When I set up my new system, I was unable to get it to connect to the internet through my home network. I am not very tech savvy so I thought it was something I was doing wrong. A friend who is very computer knowledgeable came over and attempted to make it work without success. We replace my older modem and router with the hope that that would fix the issue and it did not. So I contacted Panasonic and was told to send it to their repair department which I did. I was sent a refurbished model as a replacement for the brand new model. When it arrived it was broken so I contacted Panasonic again and was told that the delivery company would be coming to pick up the damaged item. I waited for two days at home for the delivery company to pick it up and they never showed. So I took the home theater system in the box it was shipped in to the delivery hub and sent it back myself. I am now being told that Panasonic can't help me because they already sent me a replacement. Now I am out to cost of the unit with no way of getting a refund from the seller. My experience with Panasonic has taught me to never deal with them again.

I bought this system 8 months ago. Every thing was working smoothly. Picture and sound quality are good.

But suddenly now it has stopped reading/playing any dvd disc. I am not sure if its a common problem.
I have talked to Panasonic tech support , they asked me to update the firmware which I did but it didn't help.
Now they have asked me to send the unit to the service center. I am little disappointed.
Well worth it!

First Off let me say this receiver has fantastic sound quality and video quality when watching Blu-Ray - simply fantastic. I matched mine with a Panasonic Viera Plasma and they are amazing - but only for Blu-Ray. For other features - SD Movies always show up in a black box I have to manually adjust the aspect ratio on my TV not sure why. The network capability is lacking - there is a coming soon box on one side of the interface that I'm guessing will never come - I was hoping for Netflix out of this guy eventually. It has youtube access which is great for inappropriate video clips - beware. Slow interface and cumbersome search capability. Finally the Amazon HD or SD streaming I was able to watch one movie without a glitch a few months ago. Now I can never watch an Amazon delivered movie. Amazon just refunds my purchase when I say I have a problem. The odd thing is it will play for 5-10 even 20 minutes in full HD. Then it will stop - completely! Which really is a big frustration when you have 3 kids looking at you wanting you to fix it. The solution I found was to actually purchase the movie, downloading it to my Media center PC works fine. But this unit even with the latest firmware is nooooo good at this which is disappointing and one of the features I hoped to enjoy - the concept is great. Other frustrations - I have a Harmony remote and Viera link and the remote conflict with one other. One bad feature is that there is no direct way of telling the unit which audio input to use - I have multiple optical inputs. So I reversed it and had the Viera link take care of the input switching and that works fine except when switching to DVD it never goes to the DVD input until you insert a DVD... I think the lacking part is on the remote capabilities of the BT300. This unit also does not have any HDMI inputs - one problem you WILL run into is that your TV will be doing all the switching, processing all the audio and sending down to this unit (unless you watch a BluRay). I have seen that the Panasonic Viera TV is introducing an audio delay. Its not consistent. When you first fire up both units in the morning they are in sync. After about 2-3 hours the audio starts going out of sync. After several hours you cant stand it anymore - its gotta be around 500ms. Only solution is to reboot the BT300 which leads me to my final point. The BT300 takes SOOOO LONG to startup - it take around 45 seconds for the unit to power on. And since this is the primary audio for my TV... you wait and wait. Then you hope that the input was left on the correct optical input, if it wasnt then you have to switch inputs manually or by switching the tv input back and forth (sat to media ctr then back to sat) so the unit can pick up the correct input. For me - this unit is going up to my bedroom now. I will be purchasing a real audio reciever that hopefully doesnt take 45sec to turn on. All my components will go to this new receiver instead of the TV and they should take care of all the annoying issues of this unit. Ohh yes I have another Panasonic BluRay player that will be coming down to replace this unit.
Makes movies so much better

Excellent sound quality and was easy to setup. We've really enjoyed this system and the blue ray is great. Have to be patient starting it as it's delayed but I read that ahead of time. If you take the time to read everything about operating the blue ray then I'm sure you won't have a problem, but it's not set up the smoothest. A little frustrating in the beginning until we figured it out, but not a big deal. Got a great price so I would definitely buy it again for the quality and value.

    Jason,
Have you figured out how to stream Netflix thru your SC-BT300? If so, share your wisdom! How do you “Go to Netflix” on this unit? Can it be done thru Viera? Do you do it thru the network settings? I haven’t figured out any way to browse web sites. Once you do, how do you “set it up from their end”? Thanks!
