Bose 3-2-1 Systems and Bose in General = JUNK

| I have a Bose 3-2-1 System. I've had it less than 2 years. It stopped playing Discs saying !Format Unsupported. Evidently, this is a constant problem with a high percentage of people who buy these systems. Bose will do nothing to help you after the standard one year warranty is up on the item. They will charge you $160 to fix the system, then give you a new 1 year warranty. I have a Panasonic music system that I received from my parents in 1980 for 8th Grade Graduation. It has no DVD/CD player since they did not exist at that time. However, 30 years later...and I've never had a thing done to it, it all still works(turntable, radio and cassette deck) BUY PANASONIC!!!!!!!!! Bose is simply junk and I would not recommend it to ANYONE! Again BOSE IS JUNK!!!!!!!! and their customer service leaves a great deal to be desired! |
Simple excellence.

Efficient, warm, and discreet integrated system which is reasonably priced and contemporary. I am running this 2.1 in an 800 sq. ft. room and the sound is great.
Highly recommended for any minimalist who can appreciate good sound.
Sound is subjective so whatever you decide, buy from a vendor with a strong return policy.
I'd place that last disclaimer on even the finest McIntosh or vintage Carver Silvers'.

My wife bought me this product for our anniversary and we set it up in the bedroom (I have other Bose products, acoustimass & Wave CD radio)
The 123 is great for a smallish to medium sized room, I do not think it would disappoint in a larger one either, but there are better options I feel.
I connected it to a 42" Panasonic Plasma and it was very quick, easy install, connected through the HDMI input.
We watched "Avatar" and no complaints rich sound, couple of interesting things and why I wrote this review
a) It remembers the location of the disc, so if you switch off, get a power cut, have to leave and turn it off, when you put the disc in it will start playing from that point- useful for me as I live in Jamaica and experience a few power outtages (pressing the stop button TWICE will cancel this feature)
b) when I first connected the unit, I got "disc Error- incorrect region" after going online I found a "hack"
[...]
and "ta-da" , except now there was no sound???, I did some more research and found that the voltage setting was on "240v" instead of "110v" (this was set up for UK use and hence why i got error wrong region) after sliding it it 110v all is good - I now have a sneaky feeling I can NOW play region 2 UK DVD's!!!

I been using the the system for about 6 weeks mainly for movie, TV and gaming. The sound is great so far and I am satisfy. The 2 small speakers able to provide the surround sound feel and the bass is good. Thats amazing. This system does what it advertise. Some people say this system is not loud enough, but I would say it does have enough sound with reasonable/good quality.
However, This is my second system because the first one was not working. It shut off randomly. The build quality is very cheap for the main unit. FYI, the inside component just a regular computer DVD rom hook up with a media motherboard.
I got it for a great discount so that I don't complaint at all. But for the regular price $999, I guess I will go for something else.
For a thousand dollar system, it should add some option, like extra optical/HDMI input and "Blu ray".
Overall, The sound is fantastic and i enjoy it. But Just make sure you got the working unit.
Pro
Very easy to setup, just plug and play.
Good surround sound feel (consider this is not the real 5.1)
Enough bass
Good sound for movie and gaming.
Con
Cheap built quality on the speaker and the main unit
The sound of mid and high range is clean but could be better.
It shut off randomly.
Only 1 optical input (big mistake)
No HDMI input
Option for sound adjustment is very limit.
Missing Blu ray. |
